Diamond & Polki
The brilliance of cut stones, the soul of uncut ones.
The Inspiration
Two stones, two philosophies. Brilliant-cut diamonds for contemporary precision — VVS-grade, IGI-certified, set in 18K and 22K gold. Polki — the uncut diamond, unchanged since the time of the Mughals — for the bride who wants the warmth and irregularity of stones in their natural form. Our Diamond & Polki collection holds both, from everyday solitaire studs to full bridal polki sets.

Common Questions
What characterizes the Heritage Jewellery collection at Sarkar?
We believe in complete transparency. Every diamond piece comes with a certificate card detailing the carat weight, color grade, clarity grade, and cut quality. Our Polki pieces are also accompanied by in-house and third-party laboratory certifications specifying the gold purity (BIS Hallmark) and the weight of the Polki stones used, ensuring your investment is authenticated.
What is the difference between antique-finish gold and shiny gold?
Polki pieces require specialized care:
- Polki Care: Since Polki is set using lac (natural resin) and silver foil backings, water or cleaning solutions can seep behind the stone, causing the foil to tarnish and darken the diamond. Wipe Polki pieces gently with a dry, lint-free cloth and store them in separate, airtight pouches inside your silk-lined heirloom box. Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray near the pieces.
- Diamond Care: Clean standard diamond rings or necklaces using a soft toothbrush and warm, diluted dish soap, rinsing and drying them thoroughly.
Are Sarkar Heritage pieces certified and hallmarked?
Detailed Answer:
- Diamonds: Brilliant-cut diamonds are held by tiny metal prongs. 18K gold (75% gold, 25% alloys like nickel or palladium) is preferred because it is hard enough to secure the stones safely.
- Polki: Polki stones are set flat in a natural resin bed on a 22K gold base, with pure, soft 24K gold foil (Kundan) pressed around the edges to frame and hold the stones, which represents a softer metal composition.
Can Polki and brilliant-cut diamonds be combined in a single piece?
Contemporary brides often request pieces that look traditional yet offer the light-catching sparkle of modern diamonds. Combining Polki with brilliant-cut diamonds creates an interesting visual contrast, blending the historic, regal charm of the Mughal era with the modern brilliance of contemporary settings.
